The challenges within every community, no matter where in the world they may be, all have similar patterns. They all need to be addressed in a sustainable and effective way and they all require dedication, patience and time. The way in which each community responds to the challenges varies immensely.
At Agapé Adventures we work with local community organisations around the world. Supporting groups who have grown from a desire to make a difference in their area and to help those most in need. The work our volunteers do in these projects compliments and increases the capacity of the projects' impact in the community, and we seek in all we do to ensure the work is sustainable in its' own right and not reliant on overseas volunteers.
Community development covers a wide range of issues, from homelessness, rehabilitation, medical care, support of those with intellectual / physical needs and health education. The needs in many of these communities are great, but with your support and the ongoing commitment of the project staff that we work with, these needs can be met, people's lives restored and great change can happen.
Our community development projects not only enable you to make a tangible impact to people's lives, they also provide you with a great deal of first hand experience. Anyone looking to follow a career in social work, medical support or within any of the caring professions will gain huge insight and hands on experience which can be vital for future employment roles. There is also a great deal gained from the sharing of knowledge and ideas when our volunteers and staff spend time together.
So no matter how long you are able to give - two weeks, two months or even a year - by joining an Agapé project you can be confident that your time will have a long lasting impact.
